Generating growth together is something that is believed in for a positive future.

The start in 2000

Karma Plants was founded by Bert Langelaan and Carla de Koning in 2000. Both come from families with generations of experience in vegetable growing. Their passion for plants and their desire to distinguish themselves in quality made it a conscious choice to switch to pot plant cultivation. Due to a personal event, the name ‘KARMA’ came on their path. A name with a deeper meaning that fits perfectly, and runs like a red thread through the company. The love, dedication and passion can be recognized by the beautiful and strong appearance of the plants.

From vegetable cultivation to pot Anthuriums

In addition to growing vegetables, Bert also had a 'hobby greenhouse' in which he fanatically collected cacti, succulents and other various pot plants. At the weekends, he was always here, and certainly Carla too, to analyze and optimize the entire growth process of all plants. In vegetable cultivation, he could only distinguish himself in the number of kilograms of tomatoes and red peppers, which he did well! But in order to distinguish itself in quality and therefore building brand awareness as a company became increasingly important to him.

When an event occurred, he was given the choice to make from his passion his work. Together with Carla, he founded the anthurium pot plant company 'Karma Plants' at an old greenhouse in Etten-Leur.

The name 'Karma'

When opening a special book, attention was almost immediately drawn to the word 'Karma' that appeared somewhere in the middle of the page. Karma immediately felt good and familiar, that was exactly the right name for the company.

Karma : Making choices and experiencing the consequences. In other words, very striking for an agricultural company, 'what you sow, you will reap'. Every choice or action that the company has to deal with on a daily basis, good or bad, always offers a new opportunity. The resulting action evokes a response that creates a moving force throughout the company's development process.

The Growth of Karma Plants

A real family business started in 2000 with 1 and soon 2 employees on 15.000 m2. The quality of the pot Anthuriums was top priority right from the start. In 2007, due to the joining of the two sons, Maurice and Glenn, the choice was made to build a new 30,000 m2 greenhouse complex in the 'Next Garden' area. In 2018 the daughter, Lydia, joined the family business.

The growth of Karma had started, and that has resulted, now more then 20 years later, to the 98,000 m2 that it currently stands. As a result, the company has grown to have a good team of 36 employees.

Karma Team

Karma Plants has been able to achieve good growth in recent years. The team, the most important link within the company. They take care of the entire production process with care and dedication. From potting, setting out, sorting, packing to delivering the plants to all clients. They are therefore the core of the company, which already consists of 36 employees. The saying; Teamwork makes the dream work is therefore central to the company.
